How to obtain a boat station licence

The Station Licence is required whenever the vessel has radio equipment, such as VHF radiotelephone equipment, radiobeacon-type distress equipment, loss location equipment or radar-type positioning equipment.
The vessel station licence is also required before the expiry date set on the document.
Only registered vessels can obtain a station licence.

The owner of the vessel or their legal representative.

Submit your request online:

  1. Register and authenticate at www.bmar.pt
  2. Go to the ‘Create request’ menu, ‘personal area’ or ‘my entity’, and select the Request Category ‘Vessels “ and the Request Type ”Issuance of Station Licence’.
  3. Fill in the form, upload the attachments, check the information and submit your request.
  4. Fill in the required data.
  5. Using the ‘Get Forms’ function, you will be redirected to the DRGM Portal where you can download the application template and the rest of the attachments.
  6. In the free text box, identify the vessel (Name, IMO No. if you already have one, Identification Set and Radio Identification if you already have one).
  7. Attach the application and the other documents in the appropriate fields.
  8. Check the information and submit your request.
  • If you are the holder's representative, you must complete the Declaration - M-DQAI-34(3).
  • If you are representing an organisation, you must fill in the Declaration of Incorporation of Representative - M-DQAI-33(2).
  • Application for Services - M-DSAM-115(0) - Application for Services - Issue of station licence.
  • Annex for the Issue of a Station Licence - M-DSAM-09(1) - Annex for the issue of a LE.
  • Radiobeacon Registration Form - M-DSAM-10(1) - Radiobeacon Registration Form, if applicable.
  • Personal Locator Registration Form - M-DSAM-11(1) - Personal Locator Registration Form, if applicable.
  • Licence or Title Deed (or replacement declaration).
  • Vessels used in maritime tourism (AMT): €62.20 per frequency band.
  • Professional fishing vessels: €47.40 per frequency band.
  • Other vessels, including pleasure craft not engaged in AMT: €88.80 per frequency band.
  • Radio consignment (all types of vessel): €47.40
