You can apply for a recreational navigator charter if you meet one of the following conditions:

if you were trained as a naval officer, a merchant navy officer, or were a student at the Naval School and the Escola Superior Náutica Infante D. Henrique or successfully took other courses duly approved by the DGRM
if you are a holder of a valid letter, issued by a third country administration, provided proof of its issuance is made under conditions similar to those provided for in Decree-Law No. 93/2018.

It may be required by:

• holder
• legal representative of a minor (parent/guardian)
• representative, provided that he / she is provided with a power of attorney for the purpose
• representative of an entity, on behalf of third parties, provided that they have a declaration of constitution of representative or proxy of the holder and declaration of legal representative of an entity

Applications are submitted via onlineDesk - Balcão Eletrónico do Mar (BMar):

1. Open www.bmar.pt, please register and log in;
2. Press the New Request button, choose the following category select the Recreational Nautical Order Category and the "Match" Order Type;
3. Fill the forms;
4. Upload attachments;
5. Check your request summary and submit the application.

• Current photograph (height 2.5 [cm] x width 2 [cm] - passport), with white background, size up to 2MB, in one of the following formats: jpeg, jpg, png, bmp, gif, only in cases where there is no require in person
• certificate of physical fitness, issued less than 6 months ago or medical certificate for seafarers
• Digitized signature, as stated in the identification document, with size up to 2MB, in one of the following formats: jpeg, jpg, png, bmp, gif, only in cases where it is not required in person
• Scanning of the document proving the training or professional category

 

If non-Portuguese holder:

• Current photograph (height 2.5 [cm] x width 2 [cm] - passport), with white background, size up to 2MB, in one of the following formats: jpeg, jpg, png, bmp, gif, only in cases where there is no require in person
• certificate of physical fitness, issued less than 6 months ago or medical certificate for seafarers
• Digitalized signature, as stated in the identification document, with size up to 2MB, in one of the following formats: jpeg, jpg, png, bmp, gif
• Scanning of the valid foreign title

 

If representative:

• Statement or power of attorney by the holder (mandatory document to initiate the process)
• Current photo of the holder (height 2.5 [cm] x width 2 [cm] - passport type), with white background, size up to 2MB, in one of the following formats: jpeg, jpg, png, bmp, gif, only in cases where that does not require in person
• certificate of physical fitness, issued less than 6 months ago or medical certificate for seafarers
• Digitalized signature, as stated in the identification document, with size up to 2MB, in one of the following formats: jpeg, jpg, png, bmp, gif
• Digitalization of the document proving the training or professional category, if Portuguese holder
• Scanning of the valid foreign title

 

If representative of an entity, on behalf of third parties:

• Statement (mandatory document to initiate the process)
