Modernizations / Changes

The modernization / alterations of vessels require prior authorization provided for in article 70 of Regulatory Decree No. 43/87, of 17 July, republished by Regulatory Decree No. 16/2015, of 16 September. The request must be made by the vessel owner through a Form, available on the Online Services (See here) to DGRM - Fleet Division, to the email address: mail.df@dgrm.mm.gov.pt, accompanied by the documentation indicated in same.

After the registration in the Title of Ownership of the changes made, it must be sent to DGRM - Fleet Division, to the electronic address: mail.df@dgrm.mm.gov.pt, updated copy of this document. For vessels that are licensed, the respective fishing license must be replaced.

Note: Modification requests (modernizations / alterations) can be made by the vessel's owner provided that, for this purpose, he presents a declaration of consent issued by the owner.

Motorization

The motorization of fishing vessels requires prior authorization provided for in Article 70 of Regulatory Decree No. 43/87, of 17 July, republished by Regulatory Decree No. 16/2015, of 16 September. The request for installation, replacement and cancellation of engines must be made by the vessel owner, using the Form, available on the Online Services (See here) to the email address: mail.df@dgrm.mm.gov.pt, and must be attached the desired engine catalog.

Authorization to install outboard propulsion engines with reduction devices or any type of power limitation (*), can only be granted to:
 
  • Engines whose reduction / limitation is duly certified by a qualified entity and accredited for the purpose
  • Engines whose certification relating to power reduction / limitation unequivocally indicates the original engine power and the reduced power in kW
  • Engines whose reduced / limited power does not exceed 40% of the original power.

(*) Motors certified as “NEW PRODUCT” are not accepted.

After the registration in the Property Title of the engine changes made, it must be sent to DGRM - Fleet Division, to the electronic address: mail.df@dgrm.mm.gov.pt, updated copy of this document. For vessels that are licensed, the respective fishing license must be replaced.

Note: Modification requests (motorization) can be made by the vessel's owner, provided that, for this purpose, he presents a declaration of consent issued by the owner.
