 Who We Are

The Directorate-General for Natural Resources, Safety, and Maritime Services (DGRM) is a central government body within the direct State administration, endowed with administrative autonomy and guided by the principles of responsibility, transparency, equity and quality

 

 Mission

DGRM's mission is to implement policies for the preservation and sustainable management of marine natural resources, as well as policies relating to fisheries, aquaculture, the fish processing industry and related activities. It is also responsible for promoting maritime safety and maritime services, including the maritime-port sector, while ensuring the regulation, inspection, monitoring, coordination and control of activities carried out within these areas, in accordance with Decree-Law No. 49-A/2012 of 29 February.

 

 Vision

To be a leading authority in maritime governance, sustainable fisheries management and marine environmental protection, supported by an agile, innovative and digitally integrated organisation that delivers simple, transparent and data-driven public services, creating value for citizens, stakeholders and society as a whole.

 

 Organisational Structure

DGRM is led by a senior management team comprising the Director-General and the Deputy Directors-General. Its internal organisation follows a hierarchical structure composed of Service Directorates and specialised Divisions, ensuring the effective implementation of its various areas of responsibility.

 

 

The DGRM organisational structure comprises seven vertical Directorates, each specialised in a specific area of activity and expertise, as well as four autonomous Divisions that provide direct support to Senior Management and operate across all organisational units.
