How to obtain the declaration of recognition of professional qualifications for the issue of the Portuguese maritime licence
When you want to obtain a declaration recognising your professional qualifications as a seafarer in order to obtain the Portuguese maritime card. The maritime licence is issued by the local Maritime Authority (captaincies and maritime delegations).
People over 16 who are Portuguese nationals, from a member country of the European Union or from a third country.
The request is made in the ‘Online Services’ on the DGRM portal, through the respective application available under ‘Execute Service’, which is completed and sent to the email address: dpm.requerimentos@dgrm.pt accompanied by the documents mentioned in ‘What documents are needed?’.
- Copy of identification document.
- Residence permit, in the case of third countries.
- Basic security certificate.
- Protection Awareness Qualification Certificate.
- Maritime card (if you are a seafarer in another country): cover sheet and embarkation and disembarkation records, duly stamped, initialled and updated.
- Statement from the ship/company captain attesting to the duties performed, if applicable.
- Medical certificate for seafarers or certificate of physical and mental fitness.
- Certificate of professional qualifications with programme contents and training hours, if applicable.
- Appropriate professional training obtained from an accredited or recognised training body.
- Ship protection awareness training from an accredited or recognised training body.
- Other documents relevant to the process.
