On the 4th and 5th of November, the Portugal Renewable Energy Summit was held in Lisbon, organized by APREN - Associação de Energias Renováveis, with the participation of the main governmental and private entities to debate the latest news in the renewable energy sector, focusing in policies, strategies, research and regulation.
Opening the second day of the conference was the Secretary of State for Infrastructure, Hugo Espírito Santo. DGRM was represented by its General Director, José Carlos Simão, who participated in the panel on “Offshore Wind”, moderated by Pedro Amaral Jorge, President of the Board of APREN, and with the participation of Teresa Ponce de Leão, President of LNEG, Jorge Esteves from ERSE - Energy Services Regulatory Authority, João Emanuel Afonso from REN, and Manuela Fonseca from DGEG - General Directorate of Energy and Geology.
During the debate, information was updated on the proposed Allocation Plan for Offshore Renewable Energies (PAER), which will automatically update the Maritime Spatial Planning Situation Plan (PSOEM) with new potential areas for commercial energy exploration offshore renewables. The PAER, which is in legislative circulation, constitutes a key planning instrument for the development of the offshore renewable energy market, as well as for driving investment in an industrial supply chain necessary to support the development of the offshore wind sector.
