Yesterday, 30 September, the first working meeting was held to define the Work Plan for Portugal 2025-2027, which will be presented to the European Commission by 15 October. The meeting involved the DGRM, IPMA and the relevant regional directorates of Madeira and the Azores.
This is a team effort aimed at ensuring compliance at national level with the Regional Work Plans previously approved by all the Member States involved in the different regions.
Portugal's work plan will be framed by the Regional Work Plans, defined by the scientists of the Member States with fisheries in the various regions, and approved at the meeting of the National Correspondents of the National Data Collection Programme (PNRD), held last week in Brussels.
The PNRD, funded by the Mar2030 Programme, aims to ensure the collection of biological, socio-economic and environmental data to support scientific advice and contribute to the sustainable management of national fisheries.
