The 82nd session of the Committee for the Marine Environment Protection (MEPC82) is taking place this week in London, at IMO, to discuss environmental issues related to Maritime Transport and Ports.
On the table, proposed medium-term measures will be discussed to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from ships, increase the energy efficiency of maritime transport, combat marine litter, water management ballast and reducing underwater noise.?
Of particular note is the point on the agenda regarding the implementation of Emission Control Areas and Particularly Sensitive Areas of the ocean, and also the status of the work and measures of the “IMO net-zero framework” which should be adopted in 2025 for entry in strength in 2027.
