With the improvement in sea conditions and under the responsibility of the DGRM, maintenance dredging in São Martinho do Porto is ongoing, with the aim of improving maritime safety conditions at the entrance and inside the bay.
This operation includes the dredging of 74,000 m3 of sediments from the bar, entrance channel and parking basins, varying between -4 and -1 m (ZH).
The sediments to be dredged fall into class 1, foreseeing their immersion in the coastal drift zone, in the same area defined in the Maritime Spatial Planning Situation Plan (PSOEM), for the deposition of sediments from the port of Nazaré.
The remaining execution period is 10 days, if the sea conditions allow for the continued execution of the work and the transport of the dredged material to the immersion zone.
These works are part of the multi-annual dredging contract for ports in central Portugal.
