Corpower Ocean Portugal (CPO) has successfully completed the installation of the new Submarine Cable that will allow the connection of the new offshore electricity generator to the national electricity grid.

In a partnership between CPO and Maersk, 100 tons of power submarine cable were installed, over a length of 6.2 km, which will allow the connection of the wave-based energy generating unit to the onshore substation in Aguçadoura. Thus, a very important step was taken towards the implementation of this offshore renewable energy project, which should start operating in the short term.

It should be remembered that the installation of this equipment was subject to the issuance by DGRM of the respective Titles for Private Use of the National Maritime Space.
