The regulation establishing the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF) 2021-2027, a specific financial instrument designed to support the implementation of the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) and the Union's maritime policy, was published on 13 July.

The EMFF has the following priorities:

- Fostering sustainable fisheries and the conservation of aquatic biological resources;
- Encourage the sustainable development of aquaculture, processing and marketing of fisheries and aquaculture products, contributing to the Union's food security;
- Promote the growth of a sustainable blue economy and foster prosperity of fishing and aquaculture communities;
- Strengthen international ocean governance and promote safe, clean and sustainably managed oceans and seas;
