DGRM renews quality certification and extends its scope to the inspection areas of Leixões, Azores and Madeira
The Directorate-General for Natural Resources, Safety and Maritime Services (DGRM) renewed the certification of the Quality Management System, after seven days of audits carried out by the certifying entity SGS.
The audits focused on the processes belonging to the scope of the Management System and on the services developed from the headquarters of DGRM, and, for the first time, services provided from the Inspection Areas of this Directorate-General in Leixões in the Azores and in Madeira.
Strengths identified by SGS include, among other aspects, the digital transition that DGRM is carrying out, the technical mastery of the subjects audited and also the way in which it identifies and manages the interested parties and customer orientation.
The DGRM Quality Management System has the following activities: Operational activities of the Flag State for the certification of Seafarers and Ships; Issuance of letters from Recreational Browsers, and accreditation of Training Entities for Recreational Browsers; Fisheries Inspection and Control; Request, Amendment, Waiver and Transmission of Titles for the Private Use of Maritime Space; Order, Alteration, Renewal, Extinction and Transmission of Aquaculture Activity Titles; Control of Maritime Traffic; Approval and Inspection of Reception and Management Plans for Ship-generated Waste and Cargo Waste; Monitoring and Inspection of Maritime Port Protection Works; Inspections of Foreign Ships.
From now on, the certification contemplates the referred scope, instantiated from the headquarters of DGRM in Lisbon and from its three inspection areas: Leixões, Açores and Madeira.
