In the case of Vila do Conde, the entire area of ??Azurara's shipyards is also being dredged, serving four major shipbuilding and repair companies.

Dredging started in early December, after a procedure launched by DGRM in the amount of 1 million euros, with more than 220,000 m3 of aggregates to be removed from the two ports and placed on the coastal drift, in order to allow sand to be fed back onto the beaches. to the south. In this way, the operational efficiency of the two ports is improved and, at the same time, coastal erosion is combated.
