Under exceptional and temporary measures relating to the epidemiological situation caused by the new Coronavirus - COVID 19 - and taking into account the provisions of Decree Law No. 10-A/2020, dated 13 March 2020, it is determined, regarding the tasks of the DGRM in the area of ship certification and inspection, the following:

1. In all procedures relating  to vessels and commercial, fishing and recreational vessels under the competence of the Directorate of Maritime Administration Services (DSAM), as of the current date and in order to limit personal contacts and thus preserve the health and safety of claimants and ship inspectors, only inspections considered essential will be carried out.
2. With regard to the maintenance of statutory certification of ships and vessels, the possibility of administrative extension of the certificates will be privileged, under the conditions laid down in the law and free of charge.
3. In accordance with the Article 16 (1) of Decree-Law No. 10-A/2016, in conjunction with Article 37, public authorities accept, for all legal intents and purposes, the presenting documents susceptible to renewal whose validity period expires on 9 March or during the 15 days prior to expiry.
4. The DSAM remains fully available through the usual phone service channels and via email.
