Protocol of Delegation of Powers of Statistics Portugal to DGRM

In 2010, the National Statistics Institute (INE) and the former Directorate-General for Fisheries and Aquaculture (DGPA) revalidated the INE delegation of powers protocol for the production and dissemination of official fisheries statistics, following the publication of the new National Statistical System Law (Law No. 22/2008, of 13 May).

DGRM, resulting from the merger of DGPA and Instituto Portuário e Transportes Marítimos, IP in 2012, continues its role as a Delegated Entity for the collection and dissemination of statistical data in the fisheries area, resulting from statistical operations carried out by direct surveys and for taking advantage of administrative acts.

In the pursuit of its statistical activity, DGRM follows the principles and rules of the National Statistical System (SEN), set out in Law No. 22/2008, of 13 May, as well as the rules of the European Statistical System (SEE), in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 223/2009, of 11 March.

The Code of Conduct for European Statistics, introduced in 2005 and amended in 2011, sets out the rules for the development, preparation and dissemination of European statistics.

The Code is designed to ensure that European statistics correspond to users' needs through an efficient elaboration process, carried out in a credible institutional environment that guarantees professional independence.

DGRM adopts the code of conduct in its fifteen principles.

Legislation
