Framework
The Integrated Maritime Policy considers maritime spatial planning as an intersectoral strategic instrument designed to enable public authorities and stakeholders to apply a coordinated, integrated and transnational approach.
Coordination and cooperation between States ensures greater compatibility of planning decisions at local, regional and national level in shared seas, reducing conflicts between sectors, enhancing the creation of synergies between different activities and ensuring the good environmental status of the marine environment.
It is in this context that several projects co-financed through European Funds and Programs appear, namely the European Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) in the direct management component of the European Commission, with the participation of DGRM.
